Sunday 22nd April

Greetings Supporters from a body where every muscle aches!
I’m going to do this in pieces so you can savor it over time.  (That means I’m too damn tired to write for long now).

Anyway, we get to Nelson County Saturday about 1:00, stopped at Basics and bought wine, not that we need more, but one never knows!  On to the condo at Wintergreen, graciously loaned to us by The Binns, carried in all the walking clothes and then went to the big city of Lovingston to Food Lion to buy snacks and to the Tye river place to picnic.

Back to the condo; wine on the patio (Sandra ruined all the corks so we had to finish whatever she opened), dinner, and early bed.  But since I can’t sleep early, I got up, out to the car for more wine, sat on the patio and watched the Charlottesville airport operate, and then to bed.

Up at 6 am…

Off to Gail/Toni’s to get our route.

Dawn on Sunday!

    Now here’s the kicker:
we had done all our training in weather 17 to 45 degrees:

Judith climbing Ennis Mountain

Of course on Saturday it was 87 and our bodies were not prepared. We were fairly miserable after 1pm, (read Anne got grumpy and sun poisoned) but we kept going. Everyone else was too damn cheerful!

The main route was up Ennis Mt. Road (twice) and this is not a small hill.  At places one’s nose almost touches the road.  But it is beautiful in the spring.  More later.

Much thanks to Gayle/T for letting us use their house and pets throughout the day.
